Hillo Review: Scam or Safe?

Hillo Review: Scam or Safe?

There is plenty to talk about Hillo, and not everything is as positive as we would like it to be. It's a new casino, which is a plus as its young age implies that there is potential in it. On the other hand, the things we saw doesn't really make us believe that Hillo is so talented. The first disappointment comes with the bonuses, and let us tell you more about that.

When it comes to bonuses, Hillo certainly does not live up to expectations. The casino doesn't offer deposit bonuses, or at least, currently there are no such active promos. Instead, they come up with cashback and a handful of tournaments, including two very lucrative network promotions. It's true that the Drops and Wins carried out by Pragmatic, in which Hillo participates, are worth millions of euros. Nonetheless, a drop from this tournament will require wagering, and it's not guaranteed that you'll get anything whatsoever.

Hillo should have provided a classical cash deposit or free spins to consider the casino a good option for new players. The house provides no such thing, so we don't really see a reason to register, deposit and wager in Hillo. There is simply no money bonus as an incentive. In contrast, the very best casinos always come up with some sort of promos – free money on deposit or free spins are usually given away. Hillo disappoints with its only promo – cashback.

Cashback – a chance for players to claim some of their losses back – up to 15%. The good feature of this promo is that it's a daily offer, so every single day players will get some compensation if they lost money. The bad feature of this promo is that there is literally nothing specified whatsoever with the exception of the wagering requirement of 10 times, which is actually a favourable condition. At any rate, though, we doubt that anyone will be tempted by this offer. You need to lose money in the first place if you want to claim some cashback. Hardly any motivation could be found in this scenario.

Now let us share a few words about the tournaments. First and foremost, Hillo participates in the marvellous Drops & Wins by Pragmatic, which has a prize pool of €2 million per month. The rules are as simple as it can get – the more you wager the bigger the chance for a drop. The drops could be in the form of money or free spins, but keep in mind that nothing's guaranteed.

Hillo also has its own tournament – One Spin To Win. The rules are pretty much the same – wager more, make it into the top 10 and win a prize. The daily prizes are as follows:

  • 1st Place – €500.
  • 2nd Place – €200.
  • 3rd to 10th Place – €50.

One Spin To Win is carried out on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, making 3 days by €1100, or €3300 prize pool per week. Not bad, but that tournament certainly doesn't compensate for the lack of cash bonuses and free spins.

License

Here comes another issue. The thing is that Hillo claims to be licensed by Antillephone in Curacao, but it's a statement we couldn't unfortunately verify. There is no active seal on the website, which is the way usually a casino is verified, so the claims remain unvalidated. Nevertheless, we doubt that Hillo is lying, and we tend to believe them when they say that the house is licensed. On the other hand, however, they should have detected possible issues with their seal and fix it in a timely manner. Presently, the casino looks like some sort of a shady gaming house that's not entirely honest with players. They should solve those verification problems and quickly.

Speaking of Curacao, let us give you some insights into the regulatory framework on the island, as it's sort of unique in the gaming industry. Namely, online casinos in Curacao are not licensed and regulated by the local gaming authorities directly, but four independent companies do so on behalf of the government – Antillephone, E-Gaming, CIL and Gaming Curacao. Each licensor company has the power to sub-license and supervise online casinos, which guarantees that all rules and regulations are followed strictly. It is often viewed that the supervision in Curacao is not as strong because of this approach, but certain benefits are there, as well. The capacity increases since there are four licensors instead of only one, and the overall procedure is seen as more efficient. Also, the licensing process and subsequent control become cheaper and quicker, which gives more flexibility to casinos. Hence, if you’re looking for a casino with extra bonuses and possibly a bigger choice of slot games, you might want to pick one licensed in Curacao.

As expected, Hillo has a restriction policy and excludes players from particular countries. Unlike other casinos, however, Hillo has gone way too far in restricting players. Check the list with excluded countries to see what we are talking about.

Restricted countries: Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, American Samoa, Angola, Anguilla, Antarctica, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Armenia, Aruba, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belarus, Belgium, Belize, Benin, Bermuda, Bhutan, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, Bouvet Island, British Indian Ocean Territory, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Cayman Islands, Central African Republic, Chad, Christmas Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Colombia, Comoros, Congo (Brazzaville), Congo (Kinshasa), Cook Islands, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Curaçao, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Côte d'Ivoire, Denmark, Djibouti, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Falkland Islands, Faroe Islands, Fiji, France, French Guiana, French Polynesia, French Southern Lands, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Gibraltar, Greece, Greenland, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guam, Guatemala, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, Haiti, Heard and McDonald Islands, Honduras, Hong Kong, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kiribati, Korea, North, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lebanon, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Lithuania, Macedonia, Madagascar, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Malta, Marshall Islands, Martinique, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mayotte, Mexico, Micronesia, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Montserrat, Mozambique, Myanmar, Namibia, Nauru, Nepal, Netherlands, Netherlands Antilles, New Caledonia, Nicaragua, Niger, Nigeria, Niue, Norfolk Island, Northern Mariana Islands, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Puerto Rico, Reunion, Romania, Rwanda, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Helena, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Martin (French part), Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Samoa, San Marino, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Sint Maarten (Dutch part), Slovakia, Slovenia, Solomon Islands, Somalia, South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands, South Sudan, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Suriname, Svalbard and Jan Mayen Islands, Swaziland, Switzerland, Syria, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Timor-Leste, Togo, Tokelau, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Turks and Caicos Islands, Tuvalu, Uganda, United Kingdom, United States, United States Minor Outlying Islands, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu, Vatican City, Venezuela, Virgin Islands, U.S., Wallis and Futuna Islands, Western Sahara, Yemen

The deposit policy of Hillo is not up to the standards. The casino accepts only two methods – bank cards and crypto. On top of it all, direct crypto transfers are impossible. Instead, the cashier only allows crypto purchases, meaning that players are redirected to buy crypto from somewhere and later deposit the digital coins they bough. The entire process of buying crypto seems overly complicated and somewhat shady, so here comes another downside to note. Too many already.

The minimum deposit is acceptable – only €25, with €10 000 being the maximum transaction possible for a single transfer. The worst, however, is that there are deposit fees, which is unacceptable. The charge is enormous, on top of that – 5%, meaning that for every €100 deposited players pay €5. We shall say it once again! Unacceptable.

Withdrawal methodMinimumMaximumProcessing timeFee
Unspecified€20€10000up to 5 daysUnspecified

The withdrawal policy isn't good either. The only withdrawal method will be credit/debit cards. The minimum withdrawal is said to be €20, which is somewhat of a weird condition. Hillo happens to be the first casino that has lower minimum withdrawal than minimum deposit. Note that.

Maximum withdrawals are not specified, and the same applies to the daily, weekly and monthly withdrawal limits. The lack of information about those conditions is another fact worth being noted. Good casinos always reveal all conditions related to gaming. Hillo doesn't do so, which raises the question: is it really a good casino?

Anyhow, let's move on to another unfavourable proviso. Namely, the withdrawal request processing time is 5 days, which is considerably more extended period than usual. Casinos typically deal with withdrawal requests for 24-48 hours, but Hillo needs at least twice more time.

Fees are not specified, but we highly doubt that withdrawal request processing is free of charge. The reason for our scepticism is the fact that Hillo charges deposits, which suggests that withdrawals aren't for free either. We are just speculating, but that's the only option left for us. It doesn't make sense if a casino charges deposits but doesn't charge withdrawals. Isn't it?

The rollover requirement is favourable, on the other hand. Players will be required to wager their deposits only once before a withdrawal, which is a good condition.

The inactive account policy is also within standards. According to TCs, an account becomes dormant after 12 months no log in and will be charged €10 per month. A normal condition applied by most casinos.

Games and Game Suppliers

Game providers: PragmaticPlay, Endorphina, OneTouch, Evolution, NetEnt, Red Tiger Gaming, Gamzix, Nolimit City, Spinomenal, Blueprint, Electric Elephant, TrueLab, Spribe

The gaming library of Hillo isn't the best. On the positive side, the casino works with top-tier gaming suppliers only, including Pragmatic, NetEnt and Spinomenal. The presence of those guarantees that the slots offered by Hillo are tested, verified and proven. Indeed, pretty much all the best slots are found in the library.

On the other hand, however, the number of gaming studios is pretty insufficient, so players won't bathe in variety, which may turn the gaming experience into a routine. We wanted to see more providers and more games.

Anyhow, check some new slots offered by Hillo: Cash Chips, Flaming Frenzy, Demon Pots, Twilight Princess, Gravity Bonanza, Big Bass Crash, Rainbow Reels, 8 Golden Dragon Challenge, Fortunes of Aztec, Monkey´s Treasure, Lightning Lotto, Book of Tut Megaways, Super Sundae, Frozen Tropics, Gonzo's Treasure Map, Cyclops Smash, Candy Blitz, Wild Waves Megaways, Big Bass Hold & Spinner Megaways, Mustang Trail, Late Night Win, Gemstone Guardians, Forge of Olympus, Pub Kings.

The house also has a Live Casino lobby. It's good, but we have the same problem. Just not enough games. For example, there are only 9 live shows: Lightning Lotto, Vegas Ball Bonanza, Snakes & Ladders Live, Funky Time, MONOPOLY Big Baller, Boom City, Andar Bahar, Sweet Bonanza CandyLand and Mega Wheel. That's all, and if we compare Hillo to other casinos, you'll see that the house we review offers tens of times less games.

Conclusion

Hillo disappoints. First off, its alleged license is hard to verify – a downside. There aren't cash bonuses or free spins – another downside. The deposit methods are only two – another downside. There are fees on deposits – a downside. The withdrawal policy is not entirely clear – a downside. The gaming library is anything but impressive – another downside. It's not all bad, though. We see only leading gaming providers, so all slots offered by Hillo are of the highest quality, and include all the very popular slots like Gate of Olympus, Big Bass Bonanza and Aviator. All in all, however, Hillo won't be our first choice. They have a lot to problems to fix, and unless they improve, we can't say it's a good casino.
